I was born in Bosnia-Herzegovina in 1952. While living there I published short stories, plays, radio plays, and edited several literary magazines, and my poetry, essays and reviews appeared in all the main journals of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, and Serbia, as well as in such publications abroad as The Times Literary Supplement, The Paris Review, and Salmagundi. I immigrated to Canada in 1996 under the auspices of PEN Canada, and remain an active PEN member. I have been a Senior Resident of Massey College, University of Toronto, was Writer-in-Exile at the Banff Centre for the Arts as well as Writer-in-Residence at the University of Guelph. My poetry has been included in several world anthologies, such as Scanning the Century ( Penguin, 2000), and Banned Poetry (Index of Censorship, 1997), and in numerous anthologies in Canada and the former Yugoslavia. In 2006 I founded the literary publishing house Luna Publications. I live and work in Toronto. |
